Fort Washington uses a distinct approach that blends traditional, alternative and independent investment strategies. Fort Washington works with its clients and their attorneys, accountants and other financial advisors to create an investment strategy that is personalized to each unique financial situation. Our comprehensive approach includes:

  • Investment Planning and Consulting
  • Charitable Gift Planning
  • Investment Management
  • Retirement Planning
  • Risk Analysis
  • Consolidated Reporting

Fort Washington offers individuals the same approach to successful asset management that is employed by large institutions and businesses.

Client Portfolio Construction

An appropriate asset allocation strategy is based on investment goals and objectives derived from balancing many factors, including a client's risk/return profile and cash flow requirements. Focusing on a sophisticated asset allocation process, we seek to deliver consistent after-tax, risk-adjusted investment results to our clients.

We construct our portfolios utilizing a core/satellite approach. This approach allows us to tailor our portfolios to client circumstances. We advocate investing in large, lasting and well-managed companies as the foundation or core of each of our portfolios. We then add in combinations of other specialty asset classes satellite in an effort to maximize return and minimize portfolio risk.

Manager Selection Process

Our manager selection process includes access to a broad array of independent investment managers, including Fort Washington's own specialized money managers.

In selecting independent money managers who complement our strengths, we actively search and access a significant number of managers in each asset class and ultimately select managers whom we judge to have the best ''portfolio fit'' and the highest probability of sustaining their historical performance.* Using these independent investment managers, we are able to construct highly diversified, prudent client portfolios.

In appropriate situations, we also offer access to institutional-quality, alternative managers in specialty areas such as hedged equity, real estate and long/short strategies as a means to improve the risk and reward characteristics of our clients' portfolios.
