Investment Approach

We take advantage of the nearly 70 investment professionals at Fort Washington to develop informed views on every aspect of the fixed income markets, equity markets, alternative assets and the economy. We also develop views on the domestic, developed international and emerging markets. Under the leadership of our Chief Investment Officer, and through our Market Opportunities team we review the economy, interest rates, monetary and fiscal policy, and broad market valuations.

Active equity investing is core to our philosophy, and we utilize many of our internally managed strategies. This enables an informed view on all aspects of the active equity portfolios we construct. We build a core portfolio of actively managed larger cap holdings and further diversify this core through select opportunities. These include small and mid cap investments, developed and developing country investments, and alternative investments such as REITS, master limited partnerships, and hedged equity investments. We are opportunistic and adjust client portfolios over the various phases of the economic cycle, anticipating opportunities along the way.

In fixed income, we actively manage across market segments and with individual bond selection. We believe the active management of fixed income is a great advantage to our clients. To accomplish this, we work with our nationally competitive institutional team at Fort Washington Investment Advisors which has some of the largest public pension funds in the U.S. and institutions in Cincinnati as its clients. We closely work with our broad-market and specialty fixed income professionals who actively assess interest rate risk, duration, credit quality, and yield curve positioning in a variety of fixed income strategies.
